About
Daily Reminder is a small, focused Chrome extension that helps you take better breaks, drink more water, and look after your posture—without getting in your way. It’s quick to start, easy to customise, and designed to run reliably on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
Why I built it
Daily Reminder was made for myself first (Mat). I was spending long stretches at my desk and forgetting to move, sip water, or reset my posture. I wanted something with straight forward options: a couple of taps to start, a clear nudge when time’s up, and no faff.
What it does
- Break — quick timers with a live progress bar. Choose a message, pick a sound (or silence), and optionally repeat.
- Water — gentle hydration reminders with a daily “glasses” goal. Log glasses and see today’s total in ml.
- Posture — periodic prompts to relax your shoulders, lift your chest, and reset your setup.
- Time-of-Day — schedule a reminder at a specific time on the days you choose (e.g., 11:00 Mon–Fri).
- Advanced Timers — power-user options for split Water/Posture intervals, snooze length, and more.
Designed to be reliable
Daily Reminder uses Chrome’s Manifest V3 alarms and offscreen audio so sounds play even when the popup is closed. Timers persist across browser restarts, and the extension re-hydrates schedules on startup. You’ll also see a small dot on the toolbar icon whenever any timer is active.
Privacy & permissions
- No data collection. All settings and config are stored locally in your browser.
- Minimal permissions: Alarms, Notifications, Storage, and Offscreen (for dependable audio).
Tips & troubleshooting
- If notifications don’t appear, check system settings (Windows Focus Assist, macOS Do Not Disturb) and Chrome’s notification permissions.
- Sounds follow your device volume. Prefer silent nudges? Choose “No sound”.
- Reminders run while Chrome is open. Closing Chrome pauses timers until you reopen it.
Roadmap
Next up: a enhanced settings page with more personalisation, optional “Pro” features, and small quality-of-life updates. If you’ve got ideas, I’d love to hear them.
